Flintshire residents warned after Euticals plant chemical discovery

Thousands of people in Flintshire are being warned about a potentially explosive chemical which was found at a pharmaceutical factory.

The council has written to 3,000 residents in the Sandycroft area after the chemical was discovered at the Euticals Limited plant.

The company says it's working with the authorities to make the site safe and secure. Work is now underway to remove the material.

"There is no need for over concern or panic" says Flintshire Council's chief executive Colin Everett.

'The substance, it appears, has built up on the site over a period of time".

"It's as stable as it can be, it's locked down and the site operations are locked down to a minimum so there's no chance of any shock to the substance which would set off any chain reaction".
