40 elderly care homes in Wales closed and only four opened between 2020 and 2023, with no new homes opening in North Wales in that time.

A woman whose husband had to move care home has spoken of the "tears" and emotion as residents, staff and family at the former home discovered it was shutting.

The nursing home manager said the experience highlights how "alone you are in this sector" and that her staff felt "let down by the system".
