Sir Philip Green 'sad and very sorry' over BHS collapse

Sir Philip Green has exclusively told ITV News he is “sad and very sorry” for the hardship caused by the collapse of BHS. Stores across the UK have now closed their doors for good, including Cardiff Bay, Carmarthen, Llandudno, Newport, Swansea and Wrexham.

Last BHS store in Wales closes for good

The last British Home Stores shop in Wales has now closed for good. The Swansea BHS first opened in the 1950s and although there are questions over the management of the overall business, the Swansea workers were determined the closure wouldn't be a sad occasion.

BHS staff get into festive spirit to bid customers goodbye

Staff at the BHS branch in Swansea are getting in the festive spirit early as Wales' last store prepares to shut for good.

The Swansea store first opened in 1954 and was famed for it's Christmas shop, so today the staff have dressed up in their Christmas outfits to say goodbye.

The store opened up an hour earlier than planned because of demand.

Customers were seen queuing all the way down the high street as BHS prepares to end its 88 year history.

After 88 years of being a high street mainstay, BHS stores are expected to close their shutters for the last time today.

Among 22 UK branches closing across the UK today is the Swansea store. Counterparts in Cardiff, Carmarthen, Llandudno, Wrexham and Newport have already shut up shop.

The store's closure has seen the loss of hundreds of jobs across Wales.

The former owner of BHS will appear before MPs on Wednesday.

Sir Philip Green has confirmed that he will appear before MPs, who are currently investigating the high street chain's collapse.

The Topshop billionaire had previously said he wouldn't attend the Commons inquiry unless its chairman, MP Frank Field, resigned from the investigation.

However, on Tuesday he said: "This will be the first and only opportunity I have had to tell my side of the very sad BHS story and I will do my best to answer all the questions put to me in an honest and open way."
