Wales' Paralympians return to heroes' welcome

Members of the ParalympicsGB team have been greeted by flag-waving fans at Heathrow Airport after their hugely successful Rio Games.

The team, which won 64 gold medals, sported their medals as they touched down in London to the heroes' welcome.

Paralympic gold-medallist Aled Sion Davies has told ITV Wales that Rio 2016 will "go down in the books" for British sporting success.

Davies, who won his second Paralympic gold-medal at Rio 2016 in the F42 shot-put, said the success of the summer is still "pretty surreal".

He and fellow gold-medallist Rob Davies spoke to Jonathan Hill earlier this evening on ITV's Wales at Six programme.

The ParalympicsGB team have begun disembarking from the airplane at Heathrow Airport to be greeted by a heroes' welcome from flag-waving fans.

Fans of all ages have gathered to welcome the success-laden British team home from Rio 2016.

Members of the British Airways flight crew bringing the ParalympicsGB team home have been preparing for their arrival.

Celebratory bunting has been put up in the cabin which will host the team, who won 64 gold medals in Rio.

The flight is due to land back in the UK on Tuesday morning.

Gold medalists Natasha Baker MBE and Dame Sarah Storey were among those proudly posing for photos with the crew.

The flight is due to land back in the UK on Tuesday morning.
