A 6m deep hole has opened up on a street near Maesteg after a pavement collapsed. South Wales Fire & Rescue Service say Coronation Terrace in Nantyffyllon has been closed for safety reasons while crews assess the damage.

Work to repair Maesteg sink hole set to start
Work to repair a hole which opened up in a Maesteg street will get underway tomorrow.
The six-metre deep sinkhole appeared in Coronation Street, Nantyffyllon, last Thursday. People living in flats in a converted miners' institute were evacuated as a precaution.
Bridgend Council says excavation work will begin tomorrow with repair work expected to take up to 10 days depending on the weather. The road will remain closed until then, but residents in other properties are still able to access their homes. Those living in the flats will be able to return once a structural engineer has inspected the building.
