A man's been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a driver died in a crash on the M4 at Newport. Police say the two-car collision happened at around 4.10am. A 56-year-old man from Ireland died at the scene. A 45-year-old man from Merthyr Tydfil has been arrested.

Motorway reopens after early morning crash

Police say the M4 has reopened following a crash in the early hours of this morning.

Gwent Police were called to junction 28 in Newport at around 4.10am, where two cars had crashed. A 56-year-old man died at the scene and a 45-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

A force spokeswoman says all lanes of the motorway have now reopened.

A man's been arrested, after a driver died in a crash on the M4 in Newport this morning.

Gwent Police were called to a collision involving two cars on at Junction 28 at Tredegar Park at around 4.10am. A 56-year-old man from the Republic of Ireland died at the scene.

A 45-year-old man from Merthyr Tydfil has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Police warned drivers to expect delays on the eastbound carriageway until around lunchtime. Two lanes of the motorway are still closed.

Monday M4 misery for commuters after accident

An accident on the M4 Eastbound between Cardiff and Newport has resulted in queuing traffic for up to 13 miles.

The collision occurred at around 04:15 on the exit slip round at Junction 28 (Tredegar Park).

Traffic is backing up to Junction 33 (Cardiff West and Services) on the M4 and on the A48 Eastern Avenue to A4232 (Pontprennau).

Travel time is said to be up to 120 minutes.
