Man arrested after driver dies in Bridgend A48 crash

The family of Christopher Furniss, who died in a collision on the A48 in Bridgend on Sunday, have paid tribute to him.

Mr Furniss was described as 'a loving husband, father and grandfather, who will be sadly missed by all his family and friends’

The 68 year-old man from Laleston died when the blue Citroen he was driving was in collision with a yellow Seat.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers investigating the incident are continuing their appeal for witnesses to the incident which occurred shortly before 1pm.

The yellow Seat was travelling from Laleston in the direction of Broadlands when it collided with the blue Citroën that was exiting from Laleston lane.

The 21 year old male driver of the Seat was arrested but has since been released on police bail.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who was travelling along the A48 around the time of the incident should contact South Wales Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting reference number *459555.

The driver of the Citroën, a man in his 60s, died at the scene.
