A woman who died after being hit by a van on the Heads of the Valleys Road last night has been named as Louise Hopkins. The 41 year old worked for Merthyr Tydfil Council in service support.

Tributes have been paid to a woman who died after being hit by a car on the Heads of the Valleys last week.

Louise Hopkins was walking away from a broken down vehicle with a man at around 7.15pm between Pant and Dowlais when the incident happened.

Ms Hopkins worked for Merthyr Tydfil Council as a service support worker.

My mum was very free and kind and she would go without important things for other people. I loved her very much.

Louise's father has described her as a 'beautiful, caring daughter'.

Her mother, Helen, added: “Our lives are never going to be the same without her.”

South Wales Police is continuing to appeal for witnesses to the collision, especially the driver who stopped to speak to the van driver at the scene, to contact South Wales Police Roads Policing Unit via 101 quoting reference 1500411419.

A woman who died after being hit by a car on the Heads of the Valleys road last night has been named as Louise Hopkins.

The 41 year old was walking away from a broken down vehicle with a man at around 7.15pm between Pant and Dowlais when the incident happened.

Ms Hopkins worked for Merthyr Tydfil Council as a service support worker.

Louise, who worked within our Service Support department, will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.

We have lost a dear friend and valued colleague and our hearts and prayers go out to her family and friends at this very sad time.

It is very difficult to express in words our feelings of shock and numbness at this tragic accident.
