Wales' medical staff to use replays

Wales medical staff will have access to instant video replays during the rest of this season's RBS 6 Nations Championship.

It follows incidents involving wing George North, who suffered two blows to the head during last Friday's Six Nations opener against England in Cardiff.

The Wales star took an accidental boot to the head from England lock Dave Attwood in the first-half, and he was temporarily replaced by Liam Williams while he underwent mandatory concussion assessment.

North subsequently returned to the field, but he then clashed heads with team-mate Richard Hibbard during the second-half in what appeared to be a worse incident, which subsequently attracted attention from rugby union's global governing body World Rugby.

North did not go off a second time, playing on as England started their Six Nations campaign with a 21-16 victory.

After any incident like this we will always write our own report, World Rugby asked us for that on Saturday, and we duly delivered the same day.

Since the incident, we have seen where our protocols need to improve.

For the next four games of the Six Nations, we are certainly going to have instant video replays for home and away matches.

Faletau: Wales can win Six Nations

Taulupe Faletau insists there is "still a chance" that Wales can be crowned RBS 6 Nations champions this season.

Faletau and company will head to Edinburgh for an appointment with Scotland next weekend on the back of a 21-16 home defeat against England.

With three of their remaining four Six Nations games this term being away from home - including France in Paris later this month - Wales face a Herculean task.

But number eight Faletau has cited recent Six Nations history - the 2013 tournament - when Wales lost their opening fixture at home to Ireland, but bounced back with four successive wins and claimed silverware through a record-breaking 30-3 victory over England.

The boys were disappointed, but we will stick together and bounce back for Scotland. There is still a chance for us to win the tournament. We just need to do the hard work.

– Taulupe Faletau, Wales Number 8

Wales's hopes of getting their Six Nations campaign off to a winning start were dashed as they lost 16-21 to England.

England started the second half on the front foot and they were rewarded when Jonathan Joseph slipped through Dan Biggar and George North to burst over, Ford's conversion making it a one-point game at 16-15.

Wales didn't concede during Alex Cuthbert's time in the sin bin, but George Ford sealed the win for the visitors.
