Joint funded by the UK and Welsh Governments, Pye Corner is located in the Bassaleg area of Newport and will be served by the existing hourly route between Ebbw Vale and the Welsh capital, with the potential for additional services to be introduced in the future.

The station features a single platform and a car park for commuters. The project also includes the creation of a new road lay out on the Western Valley road and High Cross lane, with a mini roundabout to be built to ease traffic.

The UK Government's New Station Fund provided £2.15m towards the cost, with the Welsh Government funding the rest.

"I want to ensure people have access to the efficient and comfortable public transport services they need. Ebbw Vale railway line is already very popular, with some 300,000 journeys annually. Together with the new Ebbw Vale Town station, which is opening soon, Pye Corner will improve access to jobs and services for many people along this busy route."

– Edwina Hart AM, Transport Minister
