Rhyl redevelopment plans under scrutiny

One of North Wales' best known tourist attractions -- built little more than thirty years ago -- could be demolished to make way for a massive new development that's designed to change the fortunes of one of our most deprived communities

The Rhyl Sun Centre was one of the most popular tourist attractions in the north when it opened.

Rhyl's Sun Centre, one of North Wales's best-known tourist attractions, could be demolished as part of a multi-million pound redevelopment of the resort's promenade.

The thirty-year-old swimming pool at the town's leisure centre may also go, and a new £10m aquatic centre would be built on the promenade instead.

Denbighshire councillors will discuss the proposals today, as part of wide-ranging regeneration plans for the resort.
