Fresh warning to not drink and drive after van caught driving wrong way down express way

A drink driver has been captured on CCTV driving his van the wrong way for a mile down the A55 in Conwy County.

The video shows the "terrifying" moment when the white van is crawling along the expressway heading west in the eastbound lanes at Penmaenmawr.

The footage also shows police arriving on the scene to ensure no on-coming vehicles collide into the van.

Traffic Wales say the driver was three times over the drink drive limit. In a post online the organisation is urging people not to drink and drive.

"This is the terrifying reality of drink driving, a driver three times over the limit going the wrong way on the A55

It is understood to relate to an incident last year. This saw a man jailed for 12 months after driving a mile up the A55 in the wrong direction.
