A mum accused of murdering her young son and trying to murder her father has appeared in court.

Police were called to a house in the Gendros area of Swansea on Thursday, 29 August, where they found the body of six-year-old Alexander Zurawski.

Karolina Zurawska was subsequently charged with murdering the boy and trying to murder her father, 67-year-old Krzysztof Siwi.

Both alleged offences are said to have happened on the same day.

The defendant appeared at Swansea Crown Court via video link from HMP Eastwood Park on Thursday, 26 September, where her barrister John Hipkin KC said preparations were in hand for a psychiatric report into his client.

No pleas have yet been entered in the case and a further hearing will take place on December 12.

Karolina Zurawska, aged 41, of Cwm Du Close, Gendros, Swansea, will remain in custody until her next hearing.

A provisional date has been set for February 17, 2025.

Following the death of Whitestone Primary School pupil Alexander, his family released a tribute to the youngster.

They said: "He loved playing with his little sister and playing with his dog ‘Daisy’. Alexander was always well -behaved and never naughty.

"He was very clever and very mature for his age. He had great understanding of facts.

"Alexander was always helpful. Always eager to assist with cooking and cleaning.

"Alexander spoke both English and Polish and would often correct his parents with their English if they got words wrong. He was amazing."
