Mourners wore purple at the funeral of an eight-month-old girl who died in a car crash outside a hospital in Wales.

Mabli Cariad Hall was one of three people injured after a car collided with pedestrians outside Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, on June 21.

She was airlifted to hospital in Cardiff after the crash and then transferred to Bristol Royal Hospital for Children, but died from her injuries in the early hours of June 25.

Her funeral was held at Noddfa Newydd Baptist Church in Tonna on Tuesday, where a hand-drawn butterfly and other items in tribute to Mabli could be seen attached outside.

Relatives wore purple ribbons which read 'Rhy berffaith i’r byd ‘ma' which translates into English as 'Too perfect for this world'.

Others in attendance wore an item of purple and lilac-coloured clothing, including ties, dresses, blazers and scarves in tribute to Mabli’s favourite colour.

The church hall was filled to capacity whilst even more people gathered outside as the service was played over a speaker system.

Tearful mourners embraced and consoled one another as Mabli’s hearse arrived with a wreath spelling out Cariad.

Her small, wicker coffin was carried into the church to a touching rendition of You Are My Sunshine, a song which was apt as she was the sunshine to her family, the service was told.

Tonna Male Voice Choir led a rendition of Calon Lan and Abide With Me, and family members were invited to the pulpit to share their tributes. Mabli's older sibling, Efa, described how she loved Mabli "to the moon and back."

In an acknowledgement of thanks, Mabli's family, including parents Rob and Gwen, thanked medical staff at Withybush Hospital, University Hospital of Wales and the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children for "doing everything possible".

Thanks were also extended to chaplains at Bristol, Dyfed-Powys Police, and the ministers and deacons of Noddfa Newydd, together with Baglan Funeral Home, Tonna Rugby Club, and Tonna Male Voice Choir.

They added that they were "lucky to be associated with such a warm-hearted community."A tribute was read on behalf of Rob and his family, which heard how their daughter "touched the hearts of so very many people".

It added: "She was so so beautiful as every photo of her showed. She was the apple of our whole family’s eye. She really was our sunshine. Cariad by name, Cariad by nature. She was so loved that she was a pass the parcel baby, always in someone’s arms.

A tribute reading heard how Mabli was a "pass the parcel baby, always in someone’s arms"

"Always picked up and entertained and enjoyed every minute of it. Mabli was happiest in mammy's arms. She was mammy's little leech. Gwenllian was her comfort zone. Her love will endure forever."The service, which ended with You'll Never Walk Alone, heard how the family "took solace" from the belief that they would one day be "reunited with her and share everlasting love."
