Caerphilly murder investigation: Man denies killing woman found dead in her home

A man has pleaded not guilty to the murder and manslaughter of a woman found dead in her home.

The body of Adell Cowan, 42, was discovered at a property in Dol-Yr-Eos, Caerphilly in October 2020.

In February 2022, police arrested Carl James Silcox, 44, in relation to Ms Cowan's death and charged him.

The defendant appeared at Newport Crown Court via video link for a plea and trial preparation hearing on Friday (April 29).

Silcox pleaded not guilty to both the murder and manslaughter of Ms Cowan on October 17, 2020. He was remanded in custody until his next hearing on July 15.

A trial date has been set for August 8.

Speaking at the time of her death, Ms Cowan's family said: "Adell was a much-loved sister, auntie, niece and friend to many. She was bubbly, sociable and well-known in the community. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. We request that you please respect our privacy at this sad time."
