Murder investigation launched after man, 56, dies following 'serious assault' in Trellech
A murder investigation has been launched after a 56-year-old has died near Monmouth.
Gwent Police said they were called to a 'serious assault' in Church Road in Trellech at around 8.40pm on Saturday after a man was found "unconscious and unresponsive."
It said officers attended along with paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Service who confirmed the man had died.
A 40-year-old man is currently in police custody after he was arrested on suspicion of murder.
Officers remain at the scene as enquiries continue.
