Cardiff murder investigation: Man detained as 31-year-old died in alleged Butetown stabbing

A man has died after a stabbing in Cardiff and a suspect has been detained on suspicion of murder, police have confirmed.

Multiple emergency service vehicles attended Hansen Street in the Butetown area of the city shortly after 9am on Tuesday morning (November 23).

South Wales Police confirmed on Wednesday that a man has died in the incident.

A spokesperson for the force said: "Although formal identification has not been carried out, he is believed to be a 31-year-old local man. Next of kin have been informed.

"A 44-year-old man was arrested in the Splott area of Cardiff yesterday on suspicion of murder and he remains in custody.

"Detectives are not looking for anybody else in connection with the man’s death.

"We thank the local community for their co-operation while enquiries continue and would urge anyone with information to contact police."
