Tributes paid to Deeside 'caring and much-loved' schoolboy who suddenly died
The mother of a "caring and much-loved" 14-year-old boy who died suddenly has paid tribute to him.
Lisa Lloyd said her son, Kai, who passed away on November 19, "lit up every room he walked into."
The headteacher of Connah's Quay High School broke the news to parents and pupils in a heartbreaking post on social media and expressed her sympathies.
Since then, a fundraising page has been set up to support the family and help with funeral costs.
Lisa said: "Kai lit up a room with his infectious smile and caring character.
"We want to thank all our friends for all of their support."
Lisa described feeling "overwhelmed" with support after donations started flooding in.So far, more than £6,000 has been raised in Kai's memory.
Lisa wrote: "So overwhelmed by all the beautiful comments and omg, thank you so much for donating.
"My boy will have an amazing send off and would be honoured for everyone to attend when we can lay him to rest."
Relative, Courtney Clarke said: "He was such a boisterous character he made everyone that met him laugh.
"He really was the light of any room he walked into. He's gone far far too soon.
"I will forever remember and cherish the beautiful memories we've had as a wonderful family."
Connah's Quay High School headteacher Amanda Harrison described the "utter heartbreak" felt by those who knew Kai.
The school has organised to celebrate Kai's life in a series of tributes this week.
A statement on the school's social media said: "This will be a difficult week for our school family, but we want to celebrate Kai's life as part of our community."
The post continued: "Our thoughts and prayers are with everybody in the community who feels the pain of Kai's loss."
Kai's family and friends will also release balloons in his memory in a ceremony at the Navy Club in Connah's Quay tonight (November 22) at 5.30pm.
