Welsh rugby star gets engaged minutes after Wales v Canada match ends
There was an on-pitch proposal as Wales Women ended their autumn campaign with a 24-7 defeat to Canada at the Cardiff Arms Park.
After a difficult second half for Wales there was plenty to smile about when centre Hannah Jones said "yes" to the proposal from partner Dino Dallavalle.
Dino, a Llandovery and former Italy U20 prop, got down on one knee just minutes after the end of the match.
Wales started off on the front foot with a strong first half performance and really took the game to Canada.
Ioan Cunningham's ladies were first on the scoreboard with Carys Phillips crossing the line after great play from a line-out.
They managed to keep Canada scoreless at 7-0 for over 40 minutes with some excellent defence.
Their lead was short lived as flanker Courtney Holtkamp crossed the line in the 50th minute for the visitors. Further tries from DaLeaking Menin and Sabrina Poulin saw a ruthless Canada secure the lead.
It looked positive for Wales as Canada had a player sent off, playing the rest of the match with 14 players.
But, Canada showed why they are one of the top teams in the world with a dominant second half performance ending the match with a 24-7 victory.
Despite giving away 19 penalties and ending their Autumn series with a defeat, there are plenty of positives that Wales can take from this match and the series overall.
With strong performances against Japan and South Africa this month, they can only build on them and improve from defeat against Canada.
It was also a special evening for Siwan Lillicrap as she earned her 40th cap, while Flo Williams earned her first cap deep into the second half.
Wales head coach Ioan Cunningham was pleased with his teams performance and improvements they made during the campaign.
He said: "We were excellent for the first 50 minutes, then the Canadian bench made a difference, we can only learn from the defeat.
"The girls have been excellent throughout the campaign improving from Japan and South Africa, so I am happy with the whole campaign."
With the 2022 Six Nations around the corner followed by the World Cup next September, it is looking like a bright future ahead for Wales Women should they repeat those strong performances.
