'Corrupt Scum': Vandals target Conservative MP’s Clwyd West office
A Welsh Conservative MP's office has been daubed with the words 'corrupt scum'.
Vandals spray-painted large, red graffiti onto the constituency office of Clwyd West’s Conservative MP, David Jones, at Princes Drive in Colwyn Bay.
It comes after Tory MPs voted in favour of an amendment not to suspend the party’s North Shropshire MP, Owen Paterson, after he was found guilty of breaking lobbying rules.
Mr Jones, Conservative MP for Clwyd West, was one of those who voted in favour of the amendment.
Criticised for their ‘’corruption’’ and attempt to change the standards body, a political backlash from opposition parties saw the party come under extreme pressure.
On Thursday, less than 24 hours later, the Conservatives were forced into a U-turn which resulted in the resignation of Mr Paterson.
Mr Paterson had represented North Shropshire as an MP since 1997.
As well as covering the windows of Mr Jones’ office, the graffiti at Colwyn Bay has also damaged the building next door, Cruse Bereavement, counselling charity.
Mr Jones, representing his constituency since 2005, has declined to comment.
Police are investigating.
