Harry Potter platform 9 and 3/4 arrives in Cardiff - everything you need to know

The platform is visited by more than two million people each year at London's King's Cross Station

Harry Potter fans have gathered to welcome the launch of a new platform 9 3/4 at Cardiff Central Station.

The installation allows fans to recreate the moment when the famous wizard runs through a magical brick wall in London’s King’s Cross station, before taking the train to Hogwarts.

It celebrates the 20th anniversary of the release of JK Rowling's first Harry Potter film, The Philosopher's Stone.

The trolley, a symbol of the gateway between the ‘Muggle’ and wizarding world, is situated on the concourse of King’s Cross Station, alongside the Harry Potter Shop at Platform 9 ¾.

You'll have to be quick to catch the installation before it heads across the Irish Sea

Visited by more than two million people each year, this is the first time the platform will tour the UK and Ireland, with Cardiff its first stop.

It will be available at Cardiff Central for fans to visit until October 28, before heading on to Belfast and Dublin.

The official 20th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone will be celebrated on the November 16.
