Tributes paid to father-to-be who died following alleged murder in Aberdare

Tributes have been paid to a father-to-be who died following an alleged assault in Aberdare in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The 21-year-old, who has been named as Keyron Curtis was allegedly assaulted outside the Colliers Arms in Penywaun just after 1am.Mr Curtis from Cwmdare was taken to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff where he later died.A 24-year-old man from Penywaun has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in police custody.

His family have described the soon to be first-time-father as an "easy-going family boy with a heart of gold".

Paying tribute to him, they said: “Keyron was a friendly, easy-going family boy with a heart of gold. He was loved by us all and always put other people before himself.

"He was to become a father in a few weeks and would have been a great dad. Hewill be sorely missed by all of his family and friends.”

South Wales Police are appealing for witnesses, and are asking those who took footage of the incident to get in touch.Detective Chief Inspector, Mark O’Shea said: “Our Inquiries into this incident are ongoing but we would like to hear from anyone who witnessed an altercation outside the Colliers Arms on Sunday morning around 1.10am.“We are also keen to hear from anyone who may have taken footage or photographs of the incident on a mobile phone or may have dashcam footage around that time.”South Wales Police are urging anyone with information to contact them via email onSWP101@south-wales.police.uk, or by calling 101 quoting reference number 2100364326.
