Wales captain Gareth Bale is opening his own golf course inside a nightclub.

The Cardiff-born superstar is creating an indoor mini golf course with a bar and restaurant in his hometown.

Par 59 will have three 9-hole courses and will be situated on the former site of Liquid nightclub in St Mary's Street.

Bale already owns the Elevens sports bar and is well-known for his love of golf. He has expressed his delight at opening the new premise.

He said: "I am delighted to be working with a group of independent Welsh businesses to finally bring Par 59 to Cardiff."

"For me, it's about creating a safe, fun environment where people can enjoy something a bit different, play golf, and meet with friends."

Gareth Bale celebrates with Wales teammates in front of a flag saying "Wales, Golf, Madrid - in that order".

Bale hit the headlines when posing alongside his welsh teammates with a "Wales, Golf, Madrid" flag, after being criticised by Spanish fans for his love of the game.

His home in the Vale of Glamorgan has three of his favourite golf courses nearby.

The 32 year-old added: "We are going to have a non-alcoholic cocktail section, so you can reach both sides.

"If you like to drink or if you don't, you are able to go to the place to have a bit of fun playing a bit of golf, socialise with friends.

"Or even take a date - whether it's a first date or you are married a bit further down the line."

The bar's website says Par 59 will open in the city centre in Spring 2022.
