Olympic cyclist Elinor Barker reveals she was pregnant when she picked up silver medal in Tokyo

Cycling star Elinor Barker has revealed she is expecting her first child and was pregnant when she picked up her Olympic silver medal in Tokyo.

The cyclist, who won the medal in the Women's Team Pursuit, announced the news on social media in a photo with her partner Casper.

She wrote: "Casper and I are excited to announce that we are expecting our first child.

"We can't believe how lucky we are and are so excited to start the next part of our lives together."

In another post Barker, who is part of the Maindy Flyers in Cardiff, confirmed that she was pregnant during the olympics where she rode alongside teammates Katie Archibald, Laura Kenny, Neah Evans and Josie Knight.

She said: "For the eagle eyed among you who have done the maths...yes, I was pregnant during the Tokyo Olympics!
