Tom's microchip revealed his is date of birth is 2001 - making him twenty years old.

"I've just picked the cat up with a friend he's seemed to have accumulated. He's been living in Cathays Cemetery as a stray," rescue staff told ITV Wales.

"He's really skinny and really hungry so we've fed him up and we're taking him to the vets.

"Twelve years missing is our new record! Before this we had a cat that was missing for 8 years."

Tom was found with a fellow feline friend by a member of the public, who contacted the rescue charity, before the social media appeal was made to reunited him with his owners.

After just a few hours, ARC updated their followers to share happy news.

"We have found the owner! Not only is she collecting her long lost boy tomorrow, but she is also taking his companion.

"His companion hasn't got long left, but he's going to enjoy comfort now until the very end."The owner thought she was dreaming! She's absolutely overjoyed, in a state of shock and never thought she would see him again. It was a beautiful phone call, we can't wait to meet her tomorrow."
