Stereophonics and Sir Tom Jones to play huge festive concert at Cardiff's Principality Stadium
Music fans look set for a festive treat this December as two huge Welsh acts join together for a concert at Cardiff's Principality Stadium.
Celebrating their 25th anniversary as a band, Stereophonics will play a special show alongside Sir Tom Jones at the stadium on December 18. They'll also be joined by another Welsh group, Catfish And The Bottlemen, at the show.
It will be the Stereophonic's first gig at the Principality Stadium since 2003.
The four-piece group, who hail from the Cynon Valley, already have 7 number 1 albums under their belt and will release their next album "Oochya!" in March next year.
Commenting on the show Kelly Jones said: “The Principality Stadium is the place I saw my first gig with all my older brothers watching the Rolling Stones in 1989 at the old Arms Park. I was about 14. Then we headlined it in 2001 and 2003.
"After almost two years of being locked down and families all having their own stories of stress and pressure and loss I wanted to give something to the Welsh people to feel good about. Something we can celebrate - music and singing along. So, I asked some good friends. Tom a man who has shared a stage with literally everyone in show business, I’ve had some of the best nights of my life with him and I’m sure this will be another!
"And I have always loved Catfish And The Bottlemen - Van has always been a big fan of us since he was a kid. There’s a welcome in the stadium for everyone, come raise a glass and make some memories.”
Tom Jones recently returned to Wales for a sell-out gig in Rhyl where the 81-year-old performed to a crowd of 7,000 fans.
Tickets for the special festive show go on sale on Friday, September 10 at 9am and can be purchased from Stereophonic's website.
The band will then kick off a tour next year, but this December show looks set to be their only Welsh gig.
