Three people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man died following a "disturbance" at a house in Wrexham.

Emergency services were called to the Cristionydd area of Penycae on Monday evening but a 57-year-old man later died in hospital.

North Wales Police said they are stepping up patrols following the incident.

Detectives also quelled any speculation that the victim suffered knife injuries.

A North Wales Police spokesperson said: "We are aware that there has been some speculation on social media that a victim received knife injuries during the incident, which we can confirm was not the case.

This was an isolated incident and we would like to reassure the public that there is no ongoing threat to the wider community."

Forensic officers were seen carrying out an investigation at the scene.

Specially trained officers are also supporting the victim's family, the force said.

On Tuesday afternoon, a property on the street remained cordoned off by police, with a marked car outside the house and police tape blocking part of the street.

Anyone with any information is asked to call 101.
