Smiles, tears and fancy dress: Thousands brave the elements as Parkrun resumes in Wales
Thousands of runner and volunteers braved the elements across Wales to take part in Parkrun for the first time since March 2020.
Parkruns are free, weekly, community running events held all around the world.
Coronavirus restrictions meant the events have been on hold in Wales for almost 18 months but they have now been able to resume.
Jess Le Huray was taking part in the run at Trelai Park, Cardiff and described an emotional return.
She said: "It is fantastic. I can't explain it in words how it feels to be back running.
"I think it proves the importance of it for fitness, for wellbeing, for mental health - just being part of a community more than anything."
Another participant, Fiona Boyle said: "The weather hasn't been perfect this morning but it's been really good to see a big group of people out enjoying a run together.
"It does make a difference having everyone together there."
Parkruns are organised by volunteers and are designed to be accessible to people of all abilities.
They take place on Saturday mornings, following a 5km course in a local open space.
The events are designed to empower communities to look after their physical and mental health.
It's also an opportunity for people to make friends and try something new.
There are more than a thousand across the UK every week and participants are encouraged to run, jog or walk.
