Kyle Vaughan disappeared in 2012.

In 2012, Kyle Vaughan left his family home in Newbridge and never returned. Eight years later, police continue appealing for information alongside his family.

Since his disappearance, more than 40 areas have been searched, more than 200 people have been interviewed, and 900 statements have been taken by police. But, officers are still no closer to finding out what happened to then 24-year-old.

Despite the thorough and lengthy investigation, no body has ever been found and no-one has been charged in relation to his disappearance.

Police have interviewed over 200 people in relation to the disappearance.

Police were alerted to Kyle's disappearance when his silver Peugot 306 was found having been involved in a single-vehicle crash between Risca and Crosskeys on December 30, 2012. It is not clear whether Kyle had been driving the car.

In 2013, three people were arrested on suspicion of Kyle's murder. Two people were also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and three others were arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.

All of the individuals were released without charge.

In 2015, Kyle's mother Mary, who revealed she was living with advanced liver cancer, made a desperate plea for information.

She said the thought of not finding out what happened to her son was "too cruel to contemplate". She died on New Year's Day in 2018.

Now, on Kyle's 32nd birthday, Gwent Police have said that they are still "active" in their investigations in to the incident.

Detective Chief Superintendent Nicky Brain said: “Our investigation into what happened to Kyle that night in December remains very much active.

"Eight years on and we remain in regular contact with Kyle’s family and continue to receiveinformation from members of the public, all of which is recorded and investigated by officers on our major incident team."“This has obviously been an extensive inquiry. Unfortunately though we still don’t have the answers we need and Kyle’s family so desperately want.“We are still keen to receive any information that may assist our inquiries, however minor you may feel it is.”

For the next two weeks, Gwent Police are hosting a website where people can submit any relevant information they may have along with their contact details.

Speaking on his birthday, Alan said "We want to find Kyle. It would be good to know that Mary will be with him."
