People are being warned to take extra care when around the coast over the coming days as the weather brightens up in Wales.

It comes after a number of people were caught up in a rip tide in Aberdyfi on Sunday, with six of them being taken to hospital.

Aberdyfi and Borth coastguard rescue teams, Aberdyfi RNLI lifeboat, the coastguard helicopter from Caernarfon, Welsh Ambulance Service and two air ambulances were all sent to deal with the incident.

Arwel Jones and his family were walking on the beach on Sunday when his wife spotted some people in difficulty in the water. He then took a life ring and swam out towards them to help to bring them to safety.

Arwel Jones told ITV News: "I managed to get to them just as one of them was going under the water and managed to get them all holding onto the life ring.

"Luckily enough, I had a lot of friends who were out on the water using it for windsurfing and kitesurfing, so I waved them down and they came over to help."
