One of the biggest football clubs in the world, Inter Milan have launched an academy in Bangor.
Inter Academy Wales will be run in partnership with Bangor City FC. It will be open to children and young people between the ages of six and 18.
It is Inter Milan's first academy site in the UK and on-field activities are due to start in north Wales from September.
Inter Milan play in Italy's top flight league, Serie A and their home ground is the 80,000 capacity San Siro stadium.
Bangor City FC chairman Domenico Serafino said the academy will help them identify young footballing talent in Wales.
He said: “I’m very pleased and proud to have signed this agreement, which stands as testament to the hard work we’re doing at Bangor City across all levels of the club, right down to the volunteers who are donating their time.
“It’s great news for us that we’ll have the chance to work with one of the top clubs in Europe. Thanks to the support of Inter, we’ll be able to unearth lots of young talent here in Wales. This initiative will help us to improve the standard of football in our country and give young footballers an opportunity that otherwise they wouldn’t have had.”
The academy will be initially run remotely from Italy but Inter Milan CEO Alessandro Antonello said he is "delighted."
He said: “We’re pleased that a club with such long traditions as Bangor City FC has bought into our project and decided to join the Inter family. The partnership will facilitate mutual growth by sharing Inter’s expertise with a country that is placing great importance on the development of football.”
