Just before kick-off in the last round of fixtures in the Championship, it looked like only Cardiff or Swansea would reach the play-offs.

However, on a night of drama both teams kept their hopes of promotion to the Premier League alive, finishing in the top six.

Cardiff were in pole position to clinch a play-off place and they went on to comfortably beat Hull City at home 3-0. That meant that Swansea had to beat Reading and hope that Nottingham Forest lost heavily at home to Stoke.

Swansea needed a six-goal swing to secure the final sixth position and with their 4-1 victory and Forest's 4-1 home defeat they maintained their Premier League dream.
