Plaid Cymru investigation into suspended MP to conclude 'in days'
Plaid Cymru says its internal investigation of the suspended MP Jonathan Edwards is expected to conclude "within days."
The Carmarthen East and Dinefwr MP was suspended from the party on June 27th after accepting a police caution in relation to an incident on May 20th which he described as 'by far the biggest regret of my life.'
At the time Dyfed Powys police confirmed that a 44 year old man from Ammanford had been arrested.
Jonathan Edwards had been suspended from Plaid's parliamentary group following his arrest. After receiving a police caution, a party investigation was triggered when Mr Edwards referred himself to Plaid's disciplinary committee.
A party source says that disciplinary process is due to come to an end within days.
After being cautioned by the police, Jonathan Edwards issued a personal statement:
Mr Edwards' wife, Emma Edwards has said she "accepted my husband's apology."
She said: "Throughout the decade we have been together he has been a loving and caring husband and father. As far as I am concerned the matter is now closed."
