There have been four further deaths from coronavirus in Wales, taking the total to 1,538.

The latest figures released by Public Health Wales showed that there were also 13 new cases of the virus reported in the country.

It means that the total number of people to have tested positive for COVID-19 in Wales now stands at 15,913.

The true figure will be higher, however, as not everyone with symptoms has been tested.

It comes as the Senedd's Health Committee published a report that found people in care homes had been 'badly let down' by the Welsh Government during the pandemic.

The report identified the government's approach to testing in care homes as "flawed" and said the response to deaths in that setting was "too slow".

As of 3 July, there were 826 coronavirus-related deaths in care homes in Wales, according to data from the Office of National Statistics.

The report found that the Welsh Government should make drastic improvements to testing, especially when it comes to care homes.
