The First Minister has gone viral on social media after he revealed his love for cheese in a live Q&A session with members of the public.

Mark Drakeford was visibly delighted when he was asked "a fun question" on what was his favourite type of cheese.

He said: "That's probably the hardest question I've had so far because I really like cheese, and always have since I was a tiny child and I used to walk up to my grandparents in their farm.

"One of the things I used to look forward to when I got there was the fact my grandmother would pass me a piece of cheese to eat."

Mr Drakeford did not disappoint fellow turophiles when he revealed his favourite cheese.

"Caerphilly is a cheese that I really like - that crumbly, slightly salty cheese that is Caerphilly. But actually there's a lot of cheeses I like and I'll be eating some of it over this weekend."

Like Champagne and Parma Ham, traditional Welsh Caerphilly cheese has been awarded protected food name status by the European Commission.

The man behind the question was cheesemonger Joe Bangles who himself has become a social media phenomenon by asking celebrities about their favourite cheese.

He has had replies from the likes of Lord Alan Sugar, Stephen Fry and astronaut Tim Peak.

Joe was invited onto Good Morning Britain by Piers Morgan to explain why he took such in an interest in all things cheese.
