People urged to 'act responsibly' when pubs reopen in Wales after large crowds gathered in Soho over the weekend
The First Minister has urged people to "act responsibly" ahead of plans to reopen pubs and restaurants outdoors in Wales from next week.
Mark Drakeford said he hopes Wales will not see a repeat of the large crowds gathered in London's Soho over the weekend, when pubs reopened outdoors in England.
Pubs, restaurants and cafes in Wales will be able to reopen outdoors from July 13 as long as coronavirus cases continue to fall.
Speaking at the Welsh Government's daily coronavirus press conference, Mr Drakeford said he would "look very carefully at the experience over the weekend."
He said: "I think because we have done things differently, because the message we have sent to people in Wales has been so different. When - as we hope - our pubs restaurants and cafes are able to open again in the outdoors on Monday of next week that we won't see the scenes we saw that weren't encouraging, but we will be able to draw on the positives.
"We've worked really closely with the sector. It knows that its own prospects of doing more depend upon it being able to demonstrate that it can reopen in the outdoors in a way that is safe and protects public health.
"Then we simply appeal to people in Wales that when these opportunities come our way again, please use them sensibly and responsibly. We want people to have a good time. We want people to be able to use the hospitality industry again but we need us all to do it in a way that does not cause risks to rise for you and for everybody else."
This comes as Public Health Wales reported no new deaths from people who tested positive for coronavirus in Wales for the first time since the country went into lockdown.
The total number of deaths stands at 1,531, while the total number of cases in Wales increased by eight to 15,898.
