Thunderstorms and heavy rain set to hit parts of Wales
Wales is set to be hit by thunderstorms and heavy showers, according to the Met Office.
A yellow weather warning has been put in place for most of the country today and tomorrow.
The Met Office has issued a thunderstorm warning across large parts of the UK, saying heavy and slow-moving downpours could lead to flooding and disruption in some places.
Western coastal areas of Wales are expected to miss out on the bad weather, but the rest of the country could experience heavy showers, with a risk of thunder and hail.
Met Office chief meteorologist Neil Armstrong said: "Although some places will miss these heavy showers and thunderstorms, where they do occur they'll be quite lively, bringing torrential downpours with 25mm to 35mm rain falling in an hour and a few places seeing perhaps 40mm to 50mm rain in a couple of hours.
"With this heavy rain falling in a short time we could see some disruption to transport or damage to properties due to localised flooding, as well as the chance of lightning and hail."
But Natural Resources Wales, which is responsible for river and coastal flood warnings in the country, has none in place for any Welsh regions.
A spokeswoman for Natural Resources Wales said: "We are expecting heavy downpours and thunder across several areas in Wales this afternoon and continuing throughout this week. This could lead to surface water flooding on roads and possibly some localised flooding in the most affected areas."
People are urged to take care when travelling in heavy rain, wind and thunderstorms, and to learn how to protect themselves in a thunderstorm.
