Whale trapped in the Dee Estuary dies

A whale has died after getting stranded for a third time on the same stretch of the coastline.

Rescuers, including volunteers British Divers Marine Life Rescue(BDMLR) have been at the estuary since Friday.

They were able to release it back into the sea initially but onSaturday, it returned to the Dee and has become trapped once again.

Rescuers have worked tirelessly to get the whale back on to the waterand medics were at the scene on Saturday.

Members of the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) spotted the whale but said there were "no signs of life left".

It said it had been a "harrowing ordeal over the last couple of days" for the team as they fought to save the whale.
