All care home staff to be offered weekly test for a four-week period
All care home staff will be offered a weekly test for a four-week period from next week the Welsh Government have confirmed.
The self-administered swabs will be available from the Care Home Portal or directly from health boards.
The Welsh Government said it will be kept under review.
The Welsh Government have faced criticism for their decision to not test everyone in care homes previously. Initially, it had opted only to test individuals with symptoms.
Previously only residents and staff in care homes with confirmed case of the virus were tested.
But last month, the health minister announced it would be extended to all care home residents and staff. Vaughan Gething said homes who had not reported an outbreak or any cases of coronavirus would be able to use an online portal to order testing kits for their residents and staff.
