A group of Tata employees based at its Port Talbot steelworks have paid an emotional tribute to NHS key workers with their own take on Neil Diamond's classic, Sweet Caroline.

Tata Steel CRP Port Talbot “A” rota shared the video called 'Clap for Carers, Sweet NHS' on social media and Youtube showing them singing alternative lyrics to the 1969 hit.

The video also features pictures of the Tata workers' individual tributes to their loved ones working on the front line in the NHS.

"We share our colours, now we want to share our appreciation", the video starts by pointing out Tata and the NHS' logos are both light blue in colour.

"From Tata, with love, respect, and gratitude, for the sweet NHS", it goes on to say.

The video then shows 13 Tata employees stood in the steel plant, including one holding a guitar. They are all stood at the requisite two metres distance from each other.

The lyrics to their version relate to the coronavirus lockdown.

Later in the video, workers can be seen holding up personal messages of thanks to loved ones working in the health and care sectors.

"My daughter, Holly Sims, is a nurse working the frontline at Morriston Hospital", one reads.

Another says "My mum, Bev Routliff, Radiology Department Neath Port Talbot Hospital".

One of the Tata workers who sang on the video, Aron Mortimer, said: "The reason we did the video is because most of us have family and friends working for the NHS or as key workers and we wanted to show our appreciation for them and for everyone else affected".

"My shift manage Keith Gladwyn came up with the idea and got us all together to do it and Stuart Anderson playing guitar came up with the lyrics".
