Morriston Hospital staff sing 'You Raise Me Up' in tribute to colleague who died from coronavirus
Staff at Morriston Hospital in Swansea paid an emotional tribute to one of their colleagues who died from coronavirus.
Jenelyn Carter, a healthcare assistant who worked on the admissions ward at Morriston Hospital, died last week after being treated for Covid-19.
Staff broke down in tears as they gathered outside the hospital for a minute's silence, a siren salute from ambulances, a balloon release and a performance of You Raise Me Up by the Morriston ED choir.
The service was live-streamed to Ms Carter's family in the Phillipines.
Swansea Bay University Health Board said the 41-year-old had a "heart of gold" and was well-loved by her colleagues and patients.
Speaking at the service, hospital chaplain Father Jason Jones gave thanks to her ''selflessness'' as a nurse.
Morriston Hospital’s nurse director Mark Madams previously paid tribute to Ms Carter, calling her a "lovely, caring person".
He said: "Jenelyn would go the extra mile for anyone, and was a lovelycaring person inside and out, with a heart of gold. We are devastated by her death and offer our sincere condolences to her family and friends."
