NHS worker dies of Covid-19 shortly after losing husband to the virus
A 'caring and dedicated' NHS worker in south Wales has died after contracting coronavirus.
Sharon Bamford, a healthcare assistant at Singleton Hospital in Swansea, died last night, the local health board has confirmed.
Tragically, her husband Malcolm also died recently after contracting coronavirus. Both were being treated in the intensive care unit at Swansea's Morriston Hospital.
Their son Christian was also in hospital with the virus, but has since been discharged.
Mrs Bamford, who was described as 'warm, caring and dedicated', had worked at Singleton Hospital for many years.
Since 2005, she had been based within the haematology/oncology ward, where colleagues said she was a much valued team member.
Swansea Bay University Health Board says it is offering support to Mrs Bamford's colleagues following news of her death.
