Swansea man builds skate park in his back garden during lockdown

A man has built his own private skate park in his back garden because he cannot get to his usual one during lockdown.

Adam Williams spent three weeks creating a 30ft long ramp at his home in Killay, Swansea.

The 29-year-old father owns a skatepark in Llanelli but has had to shut his business under the lockdown rules.

Mr Williams is also offering to build a ramp for anyone else missing being able to visit the skate park.

The skate-enthusiast said he always wanted a ramp in his garden and now was the perfect time to make that happen.

He added that the ground work was the most difficult part of constructing the half pipe as he had to level it out.

The ramp is about 30ft long and 6ft tall.

Mr Williams said, "I've got a five-year-old son who is mad about riding and I'm an ex-professional mountain biker myself.

"It's the ramp that teaches you the most skill at skate parks.

"It's about 30ft long and 6ft tall. It's taken three weeks for me tofinish it. I had to do it all by hand."

The father-of-three is also offering to build a ramp for anyone else missing skating during lockdown. He said the response has been "insane".

Mr Williams said he will be building one for BMX athlete James Jones, who was due to be competing in this year's olympics.
