Love Island's Dr Alex cheers up patients by taping shirtless photo to PPE
Love Island star Dr Alex George has been cheering up patients at the hospital where he works by taping a topless photo from his days in the villa on to his PPE.
Dr Alex - originally from Carmarthenshire - rose to fame on the 2018 series of ITV's Love Island.
He works as an Accident & Emergency doctor at University Hospital Lewisham in south-east London.
Posting on Instagram, he said patients can be afraid when their doctor wears PPE so he wanted to "try and make them laugh or smile, even for a second."
One patient commented, "I am actually not sure what's scarier."
Dr Alex has previously told ITV News that coronavirus testing for NHS staff is not accessible enough and described going to work in A&E as like "going to battle."
The Welshman told ITV News' Calling Peston podcast that "I don’t think the NHS testing is accessible as it needs to be, we’ve got a long way to go, we need to be able to essentially, in my opinion, have tests at the point of care in our own trusts so that we can get the answer very very quickly, it’s absolutely vital."
