Girl, 7, gets birthday surprise from police officers during isolation with sister with leukaemia
A seven-year-old was given a special birthday surprise when officers from South Wales Police surprised her on her doorstep.
Ella Young, from Treorchy, faced spending her birthday indoors with her parents and younger sister Mia.
Mia, is currently undergoing chemotherapy for leukaemia, and her family are adhering to strict lockdown measures to protect her and themselves from coronavirus.
"Mia was diagnosed in January, so we can't go anywhere at all", dad Steven told ITV News.
"I wrote to South Wales Police to see what they could do for Ella and they didn't hesitate."
As the family waited in their front garden on Easter Saturday, a convoy of police vehicles appeared in their street.
"The police had a birthday cake, balloons, bubbles and Easter eggs. The girls were so shocked.
"It was such a nice surprise for them both. "
Steven said Mia is undergoing a bone marrow test this week to see if she needs a bone marrow transplant following her diagnosis earlier this year.
"It was such a very kind gesture off the police, it was wonderful".
