Health board hits out at fake social media claims that two Swansea nurses have died
A hospital has criticised the spread of false social media posts that claimed two nurses have died of coronavirus in Swansea.
Posts on Twitter make the fake claim that two nurses working in an intensive therapy unit in a Swansea hospital have died from coronavirus and that three others are on ventilators.
One of the posts making these claims, which has since been deleted, had been shared thousands of times and received hundreds of comments from people offering their condolences.
Swansea Bay University Health Board has asked people not to post false information and to check their facts before sharing inaccurate information online.
It comes as Wales' Health Minister Vaughan Gething called online conspiracy theories linking 5G technology to the coronavirus outbreak a "complete lie."
He urged the public to get their information from trusted sources to avoid increasing fear and anxiety.
The UK Government has launched a committee to investigate fake news being spread on social media about the disease.
