Woman breaking lockdown rules arrested for drink driving after hitting welcome sign

A woman has been arrested for drink driving after crashing her car into a welcome sign.

Police were called to the scene at around 3:30am on Tuesday to arrest the 25-year-old driver.

She has also been arrested for failing to comply with lockdown rules under the Coronavirus Act because her journey was "unnecessary".

The woman was driving a red Suzuki which ended up hitting a "Welcome to Swansea" and speed camera warning sign.

The incident happened on the A484 near Loughor Bridge and only involved the one vehicle.

On Tuesday, a South Wales Police spokesperson said: "Shortly after 3:30am today, police in Swansea were called to a single-vehicle road traffic collision at the Loughor Bridge roundabout

"A 25-year-old woman from Llanelli has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving, driving without due care and attention and failing to comply with requirements imposed under the Coronavirus Act."
