Wedding industry 'hit hard' as brides forced to postpone weddings

It is thought thousands of brides have been forced to postpone their weddings as the number of coronavirus cases continue to rise in Wales.

This week it was announced all church weddings in Wales would be postponed until the end of July. It came after the prime minister advised people to avoid non-essential contact with others.

However, not only has it left brides feeling disappointed, but also those in the wedding industry said they are concerned about their future.

Sally White, who owns a wedding dress boutique in Narbeth, has had eighteen of her brides reschedule and she is expecting many more.

She said, ''It's been so dramatic. We've gone from a very very busy time seeing new brides, to very quiet. I've had 18 brides reschedule, potentially it could be 60 or 70 brides. I have two part time staff, a seamstress, I want to keep them going.''

Sally has urged her brides to postpone their wedding rather than cancel, to keep businesses like hers afloat.

Trefloyne Manor, a hotel and golf club in Tenby, has seen 90% of their weddings this year postponed in just the last four days.
