Plaid Cymru cancels spring conference amid coronavirus fears

Plaid Cymru has cancelled its spring conference which was due to take place next weekend in Llangollen.

In a statement, the party said it wasn't a decision that had been taken lightly, but that the "health and wellbeing" of its members was "of paramount importance."

It comes as the World Health Organisation advised "urgent and aggressive" action is needed to stop the spread of coronavirus.

The Prime Minister is expected to announce later that the coronavirus outbreak can no longer be contained in the UK, signalling the start of the next phase in the battle against Covid-19.

Plaid Cymru said cancelling the conference is "the most responsible course of action for the party to take in the current circumstances."
