Worker at ONS office in Newport diagnosed with coronavirus
A member of staff at the Office for National Statistics (ONS) in Newport has been diagnosed with coronavirus.
A spokesperson said the site remains open but steps are being taken to ensure the wellbeing of other staff members.
The ONS spokesperson said: “There has been one confirmed case of the COVID-19 virus at the ONS site in Newport and we are taking appropriate steps to protect the well-being of all our people. The Newport site remains open although we will continue to monitor our operations in the line with official public health and government guidance.”
On Wednesday, Public Health Wales said the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in Wales had risen to 19.
Across the UK, 456 people have tested positive for the virus and six patients have died.
